NO LONGER THE TAIL: (Deuteronomy 28:13)
Developing a 21st century culture of leadership
Pastor
Orim M. Meikle
|
June 7, 2009 |
Some Root Causes:
I. Uncultivated Relationship:
Many have not fully developed a level of intimacy with God which unlocks the access to His mind and His will for their lives (Philippians 3:10-11)
“The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord…” (Psalm 37:23)
“The secret of the Lord is with them that fear Him” (Psalm 25:14)
II. Unbelieving Faith:
Our belief in God does not always impact our behaviour – (Mark 9:24)
“Without faith it is impossible to please Him…” (Hebrews 11:6)
“The local church is the hope of the world…” (Bill Hybels)
III. Unchanging Traditions:
We have been handed certain practices and dogmas which have created a rigid belief in the unchanging. It is this unwillingness to change/evolve and adapt to the times that is making us irrelevant to the world at large – (Mark 7:7-8)
“…of the children of Issachar…men that had understanding of the times, to know what Israel ought to do” (1 Chronicles 12:32)
IV. Unhealthy Thinking:
Our mentality or way of thinking has created a duality of behaviour and an inconsistency of practice
“God has only one set of principles which are to be applied in every area of life”
V. Undeveloped Spirituality:
Our kingdom is a spiritual kingdom which demands a spiritual maturity in order to be given true authority to work in – (John 3:6 & Galatians 4:10)
Spiritual Immaturity has made us:
a. Irresponsible – An inability to respond to the business (Matthew 11:16-17)
b. Imbalanced – Easily thrown off our equilibrium by words (Ephesians 4:14)
c. Irrelevant – Thinking, understanding and speaking like infants (1 Cor. 13:11)
d. Irreligious – Behaving like children in a spiritual place (1 Cor. 3:1-3)
